Joan Maloof in Garden & Gun

Joan Maloof was profiled in the April/May issue of Garden & Gun magazine in a feature on 10 “champions” who are working to “Save the Wild South.”

Armed with an old pickup truck and a mattress, the former professor of biology and environmental studies at Maryland’s Salisbury University spent two summers exploring old-growth forests in all twenty-six Eastern states, from Alabama’s Sipsey Wilderness to Kentucky’s Blanton Forest State Nature Preserve, chronicling the journey in her 2011 book, Among the Ancients.

Kindle Killed

Because of a pricing dispute between Amazon and our distributor, IPG, Amazon will no longer be carrying the Kindle version of any IPG books (The New York Times wrote about the dispute here). Kindle owners need not despair, however: you can still download the Kindle versions of our current books directly from our website. Visit the page for the book you’re interested in, and hit “Buy an ebook version.”

Amazon is still carrying the printed books, and the ebook is available from many other vendors (see the ebook version pages for details).

Award Nomination, Events for Cerulean Blues

We are pleased to announce that Cerulean Blues by Katie Fallon has been selected as a finalist in the book category of the Phillip D. Reed Memorial Award for Outstanding Writing on the Southern Environment. This prestigious award is sponsored by the Southern Environmental Law Center. Winners will be formally announced at the Virginia Festival of the Book on March 24.
